The Pushpa Project is a movement to raise awareness to the issue of female infanticide
and female foeticide happening in India, phenomena also collectively known as gendercide.
The Pushpa Project was started by Satnam Narang, a Los Angeles-based hip hop artist, poet, and activist.
Inspired by the New Delhi gang rape tragedy, Narang released the Pushpa Project on December 17th, 2013.
He named the project after his mother, and recorded a four-song EP to increase awareness about gendercide
in India. The corresponding website was designed by Harjeet K. Gill and has been nominated and awarded
for her excellence in web and UI design through programs such as Awwwards and the Webby Awards.
