My name is Miguel Angel Maya Cigarroa and I am a graphic designer. I grew up in San Diego, specifically in the rural region of Jamul. My parents immigrated from Mexico and were able to raise their children in an ample-sized ranch, filled with humility and respect. As the oldest of six children, I was entrusted with the responsibility of being my siblings role model, in order to guide and teach them that with hard work, anything is possible.
I enjoy learning new things and I pride myself in being a book worm. I am passionate about books and reading because I can get lost in them, escaping from my worries. Art is also something that I am quite fond of. I believe that through art, I will always have new content to learn, new ways to challenge myself. With art, there are new tools, new mediums, new paper, and I am able to experience that "butterflies in your stomach" feeling whenever I complete a new project that I have poured my heart and soul into.
I have experienced many obstacles that I have overcome, but I have many more to endure. My main goal in life is sweet and to the point, "Do what you love and live happy." I love learning, music, writing, reading, and especially art. These subjects make me feel happy and motivate me to continue on with my future goals. My works include magazine development, illustration, photography, painting, web development, branding, logos, metalsmithing, and etc. What really drives me is trying to make a positive change in the world with my art. I want to be able to construct controversial meaning with my works, that reflects, shocks, or changes an audience's mind in seeing my perspective, I want my loved ones to see me graduate, so that they too are inspired to do great things.
